I'm a stranger here. 私もこの辺りはわかりません 近年、外国人観光客の増加に伴い、東京では外国の方から道を聞かれることが増えました。 英語がよくわからない。 聞かれた場所をよく知らない。 こんな時に役立つフレーズです。 I can't speak english. よりはかっこいいかもしれませんね(←オイ)。

Home Workout Equipment How's it going? -> Good. -> FIne. -> Okay. -> Not good. can't make heads or tail of I can't make heads or tails of these instructions. I couldn't make heads or tails of the ending. さっぱり分からない。 It's useless. 役に立たない。 Thank you! -> Anytime. (くだけた表現) -> You're welcome.

漠然とした You (a general things)

あなたではない You You can't ware blue jeans in office from Monday to Thursday. I can't ware blue jeans in office from Monday to Thursday. We can't ware blue jeans in office from Monday to Thursday. 1 は、一般的な「あなた」ではなく、漠然とすべての「人」を指して禁止事項を言っています。 2 は、自分だけダメ。他の人は OK 。 3 は、1 のニュアンスに近いので言えなくもないが、We の説明が前に来ていないと誰だかわからないので一般的ではないそうです。 You のこの用例は、日本語では普通である「主語の省略」に近いと思います。ただ、英語は常に S + V ~ の型を取るため、便宜上の You ということなのでしょうね。これは面白いです。

Evaluating a Movie

I didn't think much of it. I wasn't so impressed with it. It wasn't so impressive. It didn't make much of an impact on me. How did you find the last movie by Tarantino? Well, I don't think much of it. I wouldn't know. informal I have strong opinions but I wouldn't know how to express them in dance.  If I said something that offended one of my students and they didn't tell me, I wouldn't know.
